Creative Break: Juggling with Kapila Marsh
Sunday, April 25th, 3:00 pm [EDT]
Poetry from the Heart with Poornima Kirby
Saturdays, 11:00 am – 12:30 pm [EDT]
May 1st – June 6th, 2021
What does juggling have to do with theatre? Everything! Take a creative break and join youth actor, musician and designer, Kapila Marsh for an exploration of the foundations of juggling and other simple performance tricks. Contrary to its reputation as a showy trick, juggling is surprisingly meditative. And the presence, playfulness, and dedication it requires are all infinitely applicable to other parts of theatre, as well as to the challenges of our daily lives. In this practical workshop, Kapila will teach the building blocks for how to begin (or continue) your juggling practice. He will also provide some history and interesting factoids about this fascinating skill. The online workshop is free and open to all ages!
Join actress and poet, Poornima Kirby, for a six-week immersion in reading, writing and speaking poetry. We’ll explore the poetry of great-hearted poets like William Blake, Phyllis Wheatley, Rabindranath Tagore and many more – asking the question: how do these words touch and strengthen our hearts? Through prompts, poetry games, and collective creation, we’ll get out of our heads, and into the playful, open-hearted state where poetry can flow. Students will sharpen their writing, memorization and speaking skills, in a welcoming and exploratory online classroom setting. The final class will include an invited poetry reading for poets’ friends and family.
