A Map in the Dark

June 3, 2020 by theatreofeternalvalues_tkk0zz

“When I found I had crossed that line, I looked at my hands to see if I was the same person. There was such a glory over everything; the sun came like gold through the trees, and over the fields, and I felt like I was in Heaven.” — Harriet Tubman

Using shadow puppetry, song, and story-telling, A Map in the Dark tells the story of Harriet Tubman, the American heroine who risked her life to rescue herself and hundreds of others from slavery. Through the eyes of Alice, a modern teenager; Sarah Hopkins Bradford, Harriet’s first biographer; and Harriet herself, A Map in the Dark tells a story of friendship, grief, and extraordinary courage.
